WHO AM I

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Bob Aungst. I built this site to share my enthusiasm and knowledge of whitetail deer hunting. Please understand I am not stating that I am an expert or even a professional hunter. I am simply a good ol’ boy from Pennsylvania (PA) with 34 years of whitetail deer hunting experience that I would like to share with you.  As well, I would like to hear your experience and knowledge.

START AT THE BEGINNING

Whitetail deer hunting is the single most popular big game pastime in North America.  Millions of hunters trudge into the wild each year for a chance at harvesting one of nature’s weariest animals. Knowledge taken into the field plays an enormous part in your success.  Whitetail deer hunting is based on matching wits with one of the weariest animals on the planet.  A common mistake hunters make is not knowing everything they can about their prey.  Things such as feeding and breeding habits, preferred terrain and moving habits, senses, and their unbelievable ability to be unpredictable make whitetail deer hunting very challenging.  These core items are going to differ slightly based on geographic location but can be used anywhere.  Understanding daily routines, habits and life necessities will ultimately make you a better hunter. This philosophy can be applied to hunt any animal, but it is particularly helpful in whitetail deer hunting.

On the following pages we will take an in-depth look at different aspects of whitetail deer hunting.  Areas such as the animal itself, scouting, antler sheds, shot placement, treestands, equipment, tactics, sent control and etc. need to be discussed.
